Sonic Boom - One-Shot

Our story begins within Eggman's shiny-new island lair, as he oversees construction on two different robots...
"Yes, the Big Boy is coming along quite nicely." He pointed out while looking at the larger of the two robots, before catching a glimpse at the smaller one. "But there's something familiar about Freezebot here... have you two been peeking at my blueprints again?"
"I don't know what you're talking about, Boss..." Orbot replied, quickly turning the page over the blueprints of a robot called 'Burnbot.' "However, Freezebot should be ready within a matter of minutes." This made Eggman clasp his hands in excitement.
"Excellent!" He exclaimed. "Things are about to get chilly for that bothersome blue hedgehog and his furry friends. But only if Metal Sonic fails to destroy them, of course..."

At that moment, on the beach outside Sonic's Shack, Tails flies above the sands as he watches Sonic, Knuckles, Amy & Sticks playing beach volleyball.
"Welcome back to the final round of beach volleyball for the day." Tails announced into a pinecone, as if he was holding a microphone. "It's a tie game, with the next point winning it for either Sonic & Knuckles, or Amy & Sticks. Oh! And in case you're just tuning in, I'm Tails." Moving down to the beach, Amy and Sticks have huddled up, while Sonic & Knuckles stretch their arms and legs.
"Okay. Just one more point, and this game is ours, Sticks." Amy told Sticks as she spun the volleyball on her finger. "Ready to beat the boys?"
"Yeah. Let's kick some ball butt!" Sticks replied, feeling enthused before Amy felt the need to correct her.
"Well, you can't actually kick the ball in this game." Sticks suddenly got curious about the ball Amy was holding, after the pink hedgehog had said that.
"Why not?" Sticks asked, before darting around Amy while staring at the ball. "Does it have some kind of shield around it that protects it from my feet? Or am I gonna hurt Mr Ball's feelings if I kick it?" On the other side of the net, Sonic was hopping and jogging in place, trying to kill time.
"Can we get this game over with, already?" He asked. "Somebody on this side's not feelin' awesome... and it's not me." Sonic said that with a smirk on his face as Knuckles laughed, before figuring out that he was just insulted.
"Hey..."

Amy then serves to the other side, where Knuckles let the ball bounce off his clasped hands over to Sonic, who passed it back to Knuckles. While the ball was still high enough, Knuckles leapt up to it and spiked it back to the girls' side! Both Amy & Sticks tried to hit the ball, but it dove into the sand in front of them before they could get close enough. While Amy shielded her eyes from the impact, Sticks was spitting sand out of her mouth.
"And that ladies, is how to do a spike! Sweet moves, Knux!" Sonic pointed out, before giving Knuckles a high-five.
"Heh-heh. Oh, stop." Knuckles said with sarcasm.
"All right. What's for lunch?" Sonic replied, immediately changing the subject.
"How about a knuckle-sandwich?" Threatened Amy, getting Knuckles' attention.
"That's my catch-phrase!" He shouted, before Amy spotted Sticks wiping her tongue over her hands.
"What? I'm trying to get rid of all the sand-bug-bots outta my mouth." She told Amy, who just looked at her strangely. "They're microscopic! Any one of them could start ripping my teeth out in my sleep! And you don't wanna see me looking like a toothless baby!" Suddenly, everyone could hear what sounded like a jet engine... "*sniff-sniff* Anybody else smell Mayor Fink's armpits?" Before anyone could respond, a certain robot that resembled Sonic stomped down on the volleyball net!

"Metal Sonic!" Exclaimed Amy, as she got out her hammer, while Sonic merely folded his arms.
"What brings you here, Robo-Faker?" He asked, before Metal Sonic pointed at himself, Sonic, and the jungle, respectively. "You... wanna race?" The robot nodded. "All right, bring it on!" Suddenly, both Sonic and Metal blasted into the jungle, leaving his four friends behind. Once they were deep in the jungle, Sonic got far enough ahead to spin around and run backwards. "Seriously Metal, what's the deal? You're not just here to race me, are you?" The robot nodded again, making Sonic shrug before turning back around. "Your loss. And by that I mean... you're gonna lose!" As Sonic raced Metal Sonic through the jungle, Amy got to thinking as Tails tried to put the net back together, while Knuckles & Sticks were bouncing the volleyball between them. Little did they know that a portable radar of Tails' was beeping... inside Sonic's Shack...
"I don't get it..." Amy said, while leaning on her hammer.
"Get what, Amy?" Asked Tails.
"You can't get life... because life gets YOU. And there's nothing you can do to stop it!" Sticks loudly pointed out, making Knuckles nervous as he caught the volleyball.
"No, what I don't get is... why did only Metal show up? Doesn't that usually mean that Eggman's not too far behind?" Amy asked the group, making Tails think before Knuckles spoke up.
"Well, it has been pretty warm around here lately... maybe he just sent Metal to help Sonic cool the island down with their speed?" The echidna suggested, before nervously chuckling. When he was suddenly hit with a blast of icy wind that everything up to his chest!
"Knuckles!" Cried Tails, before they all heard familiar cackling.

"I knew it..." Amy muttered as everyone got ready to fight, when they saw Eggman lowering a blue robot onto the ground.
"Dr Eggman!" Exclaimed Tails, before the robot fired another blast of icy wind from the cannons on its arms at Tails, freezing his feet, and making him stick to the ground!
"Tails. So ICE of you to introduce me!" Eggman pointed out before cackling again. "And I knew you were a stand-up guy, Knuckles... but for my Freezebot to make you stand? I'll admit, that was rather COLD of me. HAAA HAHAHAHA!!" It was then that Sticks decided to take action, by running to Tails' aid with her boomerang in hand.
"Hang on, Tails. I'll bust you outta there!" She said as she tried stabbing at Tails' frozen feet, only to realize that she was doing so with her boomerang. "Oh, right. I don't have my pickaxe with me."
"You have a pickaxe?! That's kinda dangerous, Sticks." Tails pointed out.
"Relax." Sticks replied as she unintentionally threw her boomerang up into the air. "I'm careful with all of my- ouch!" Sticks' boomerang landed on her head, making her rub it in pain.
"An injury on the job?" Asked Eggman, after he spotted Sticks rubbing her head. "A good doctor such as myself won't have that. Why don't I help you FREEZE the pain!" As Eggman cackled away, his Freezebot shot a blast of icy wind at Sticks' head, freezing everything on her head except her mouth!
"That's enough, Eggman!" Amy announced as she slammed Freezebot's side with her hammer. "Y'know, I'm pretty sure you're not qualified to be THAT kind of doctor."
"Is that so?" Asked Eggman, before Freezebot froze all of Amy's body! "Then I guess your attitude towards my PhD is as COLD as ICE! GAH HAHAHAHAHA!!"
"AMY!!" Tails and Knuckles cried from their frozen spots, as Freezebot began blasting the beach with its icy wind cannons.
"What's going on? I can't-WHOA!" Sticks tried asking, but due to most of her head being frozen, she lost her balance and fell down.
"You need to COOL it with the bad puns, Egg-head." Said a voice that made Tails & Knuckles happy, and made Eggman nervous.

"You... b-b-but where's Metal Sonic?!" Asked Eggman, looking nervous before Sonic looked behind himself.
"Uhh... shouldn't be too far behind me..." Sonic replied, almost as confused as Eggman. "Hey, you. You did read about me beating Metal Sonic in the jungle, right?"
"What was that?" Asked Eggman.
"I'm talkin' to whoever's reading this, not you!" Snapped Sonic, shutting the 'good' doctor up.
"Oh. Carry on." Just then, Sonic could hear an engine. And it was getting closer...
"Wait..." He said. Seconds later, he jumped into the air just as Metal Sonic emerged from the jungle! "There he is!" As Metal Sonic was turning around, Sonic attached his Enerbeam to the robot, allowing the blue hedgehog to swing his robot copy around once before throwing it into Freezebot, destroying Freezebot in the process! And because of Freezebot's destruction, all of the ice it released started to melt...
"NOOO!!" Eggman cried as Sonic Spin Dashed into the melting ice trapping his friends, freeing them faster. "It's all melting! MELTING!! Oh, what a world..." As Eggman mourned the loss of his robot, Sonic and his friends huddled together to discuss what they were doing with Eggman...

"Okay... break!" Said Sonic, before everyone got into position around Eggman. All having smirks on their faces. "So... who's up for some Volley-Egg?"
"Mmm, that actually sounds quite delic-wait... what're you up to?" Eggman said before realizing what was going on. Tails then took to the sky and attached his Enerbeam to Eggman's Egg Mobile.
"I'll serve this time." He said before throwing Eggman forward, allowing Sticks to jump in the way. But everything stopped around her just before she hit the Egg Mobile, and she looked down at Amy.
"I can kick this time, right?" She asked, making Amy nod in response. Sticks then stomped down on Eggman, sending him down to Amy, who bounced him back up with her hammer.
"He's all yours, Knuckles!" Announced Amy as Eggman was spinning up into the air, allowing Knuckles to jump in the way, much like Sticks.
"Get ready for the spike of the century!" He warned, before everything around him stopped when he noticed something... "Wait, I've got spikes on my knuckles! What a coincidence!"
"Just get it over with." Eggman groaned, making Knuckles smack the Egg Mobile down towards Sonic.
"Aaaaand to wrap it all up..." He said while feeling cocky, before spinning in place. Just before Eggman hit the ground though, Sonic sent him flying with- "...a Spin Dash strike!" While Tails & Sticks applauded and Amy rolled her eyes, Knuckles was confused.
"Wait, we're bowling all of a sudden?" He asked, making Sticks dart her eyes around.
"I don't like bowling balls..." She said as she looked around. "They've got those holes in them. Sounds like a good way to SPY on somebody!" While Sonic, Tails and Amy laughed, Metal Sonic quickly flew away from the remains of Freezebot and left the island.

Mere seconds later, Eggman was falling towards his island lair... and Metal Sonic was closing in.
"SOMEONE PLEASE CATCH MEEEEEEEEEE-" Eggman screamed, before he crashed on something that made some clanking sounds. When Eggman emerged from the Egg Mobile, he saw that it was Metal Sonic that he had crash-landed on. Picking up its still-intact head, Eggman started to get emotional before walking away from the Egg Mobile. "Poor Metal Sonic... *sniff* ...he was so young." Just then, Eggman casually threw Metal Sonic's head into a nearby incinerator. "Oh, well! He was just the distraction, anyway." Eggman then entered the lair to find the large robot from earlier in this story now complete. "It's almost time for the Big Boy's debut..." Eggman then quickly turned around and waved his finger. "But you'll have to read Issues 1 through 4 of Sonic Boom from the Archie Comics to see how it fares!" The doctor suddenly felt a tap on the shoulder. When he looked back, he saw Orbot close to his shoulder.
"Are you allowed to promote the comic like that, Boss?" He asked.
"I'm an evil genius. OF COURSE I AM!!" Eggman shouted at Orbot, before turning back around, unaware that Cubot was approaching with a piece of paper in his hands. "And don't forget to watch the TV series on Cartoon Network!"
"Uhh, according to this contract you signed..." Cubot started to say, before Eggman snatched the paper from him. After Eggman read it, he scrunched up the paper and threw it on the floor, looking annoyed. Especially when Sonic & Sticks suddenly showed up outside his doorstep.
"Well, while Eggman deals with a possible lawsuit, why don't you guys fav this one-shot before leaving a comment down below?" He asked, making Sticks dart her head around again. "If you like it, this could end up being more than a one-shot..." Hearing this, Sticks panicked.
"More?" She asked. "There could be MORE shots coming our way?! Duck and cover!!"

Just as Sticks pulled down a black curtain, Knuckles punched through it, but he looked confused.
"Wait, what's my line?" He asked, before being told what to say. "Right. Seeya round!"
